Let's Talk About Style
My personal style is a work in progress. It's never one thing. It changes with the season, with the passing of time. My style is creative, changing, moving. Travel, relationships, environment all inform my style. This blog will feature fashion, but it will also feature creativity which can inform and inspire your own personal style. Take this beautiful red Citroen I saw near the Marc Chagall Museum in Nice, France. It's shape and colour are so playful. You may be inspired to wear red or really mix things up in a playful way. You don't need to stare at fashion magazines full of models to get inspiration. Designers get their inspiration from cars, trees, buildings, you name it! It's far more interesting to be inspired by the world around you.
Below is a picture of one of Marc Chagall's paintings that you will find in the museum in Nice. Note the freedom of expression and fearlessness in his use of colour. His paintings are large in size and his brush strokes are bold.
Even if you don't want to be bold, if this is not your style, feel inspired by the freedom to express who you are, like Marc Chagall.
Take this little knit dress that caught my eye in a dress shop window in Prague, CZ. I love the bold combination of solid fabric with prints both colourful abstract and black and white dots that feature on the collar. As a bonus, even though this is an unstructured cut, it will flatter any body type as knit fabric drapes so well. Being open to seeing what is in your environment opens you up to try new styles. So go ahead, look around you and notice how what you see informs your sense of style.
